Starry Internet Consumer Protection Investigation

Barton & Downes is conducting an investigation into Starry Internet’s business practice of offering to new customers low locked-in or guaranteed monthly rates. Starry Internet provides internet service in a variety of cities including Boston, Denver, Los Angeles, New York and Washington, DC. Starry marketing materials claim that Starry has fast, reliable and low cost internet with no hidden fees, setup fees or contracts. In order to expand to or within a city, Starry Internet installs its equipment to the top of a building and will offer residents in a local apartment or condominium introductory rates to the tenants or owners of that building. During the promotion, Starry Internet has offered a discounted monthly rate for their internet package with a “lifetime” or “forever” guarantee or “locked-in” prices.
